A week full of tests, finally finished! And I survived! Phew!
As you'd expect, this week's mostly gone to writing tests during the day, and reading to others in the evening. That means not much has gone to photographing, sadly, so all photographs were taken Friday and Saturday only, not on any weekday. The kitties have agreed more or less to photographing, as any attention for them is good when there is an Ella in the house!
On Friday after the English test, I decided to go for a small bus travel all by myself. I took a bus to the shopping center Jumbo, where I bought some lunch and frozen yogurt, and then went to Helsinki via Tikkurila, Once there, I did something I had waited for the whole week: I walked to Akateeminen Kirjakauppa (the Academic Bookstore) and bought coffee, a toffee nut latte in smooth blend, from Starbucks! I cannot recall the last time I entered the coffee shop - I guess it was at the airport some day in the past, but this one in Helsinki was for me to try as I had never been there before. Mostly the beverage I enjoyed tasted like warm milk only, but I drank it gladly and without further thinking when reading about the final adventures of Fitz in the first book of Robin Hobb's The Farseer Trilogy, the Assassin's Apprentice. Yes - I finished the book on Friday, after such a long, long time of reading! And for one last celebration for the test week to be over, I bought Robin Hobb's Fool's Assassin from Akateeminen. It's a new trilogy based on the Farseer Trilogy, and can't wait to read my way to it - but only after rereading Daughter of the Blood... ☺
Yesterday Anna was at our house, to finally meet Ella and to just chill at my home. We had coffee and took Ella for a long walk, talking all the while. It was nice to have her at my house, and we planned on seeing next week as well! I hadn't had a friend over for a very long time (Olivia being the last) and so you might imagine how tiredness got me in the evening!
So the citizens of Azeroth celebrate an world event called Pilgrim's Bounty, the Azerothian way of Thanksgiving (happy late Thanksgiving to all, by the way!) and of course I had to join them with Tower-Jan (a.k.a. Jíllìan)! I had never before really got the hang of Pilgrim's Bounty, maybe because all I have played for the past few years are private servers, super buggy and not reliable on events like these (even the Darkmoon Faire is at completely random occasions on some servers?!), but hoped to take the most of it this year!

Little Jíllàn was in the human "starting inn", the Lion's Pride Inn. It's the first inn human characters encounter by usual terms, and I can't quite recall why she was there... Anyway, there was a friendly looking lady outside, near full-set tables with delicacies of many a kind - sweet potatoes, cranberries, pie... Apparently you had to "eat your fill" at these tables, to gain a nice buff and to complete the quest given by the lady.
So Jíllìan did what she was told to do, and ate her tummy full. She got the buff, which gave her a reputation bonus (by 10%) for one hour! Now she could make friends faster! ☺
After completing the quest, she went to Ironforge to see if anything was there - and there was, as there were dwarf commoners who suggested she should talk to a man named Gregory Tabor, who was outside Stormwind City. She could have been smarter and go right from Goldshire (where the Lion's Pride Inn is) to Stormwind, and speak to the human commoners there. But what's done is done, and she hurried back to the gates of the human city.
Once there, this Gregory guy asked Tower-Jan to make spice bread stuffing - here we have a picture (or actually, a well-planned screenshot) on when she is trying her hand at cooking after such a long time of not even warming herself at a campfire!
Back to the real world! Today was the Christmas faire at my old, and my oldest youngest brother's current, school. I didn't have much money, not enough to buy small gifts for my friends, but I guess I'll have to go to a real store to buy something for them. I did buy some chocolate rice crisp candy things, marzipan ducklings, and cheap earrings though, as I'll try to share these things with the rest of my family. I saw old schoolmates and some friends too, so the visit there wasn't really that spoiled!
I've been trying out some new music lately - I've got a list on my phone as to what bands to try out, and maybe even their albums. I have come to like bands such as Delain, which is a must-listen for all fans on Within Temptation according to its popularity on Tumblr; Leaves' Eyes, with the beautiful Liv Kristine who writes songs about Scandinavian mythology and viking ways; Sirenia, a new acquaintance to me, a beautiful symphonic/gothic metal band; Van Canto, a band that makes covers of the hits in rock music using only a drum set and their voices; and Huntress, the thrash/heavy metal act that gets everybody's attention because of their ferocious female singer. I have really liked these bands, and try to listen to every album they've got - in order or not. Since I only include symphonic metal songs at the end of every post, I'll put some Van Canto and Huntress here, their favourite songs of mine!
I've always loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the ending credit music of the last movie makes me cry every time! It's this song called Into the West, sung after the movie by the wonderful Annie Lennox, and hearing this as a Van Canto cover was just truly beautiful!
Huntress' Flesh is a fierce piece of music, which I believe every fan of Megadeth, Anthrax and/or Metallica will like! The singer knows her style well, and this is just a super catchy song, in the metal way!
Emi was very sad and scared one evening, and so I decided to keep her some company. I was with her for a long while, taking some photos yes, but also petting her on her favourite spot, the neck. She purred very loudly, it had been a while since I had last heard her purr that loud! I don't know whether it was because a human showed her some affection, or if she was trying to calm herself down, I guess it was both? It was cute nevertheless. ☺
I took three clips of videos of our baby kitty, which are shown below in a video! The odd noise is her purring, if you were wondering. ☺
And when we celebrated the first Advent yesterday, Bimbo decided to lie and sleep on one of the warm, pillowed chairs! He wasn't that happy when I surprised him with my camera, but I let the baby boy sleep after a few shots! ☺
Here he is after his nap! Happy as ever! |
Now I'll leave you for a while again, letting you enjoy the last rays of the Sunday evening. I'll see you guys and gals in the next post!
Bye!
